Cuadrilla’s New Not So Green and Pleasant Land

With George Osborne’s widely trailed permission to continue fracking due tomorrow we thought you’d like to see what we have lying in store for us in the Fylde

Francis Egan (CEO-Cuadrilla) stated in Dec 2012 that USA had drilled 60,000 wells in the three years that they have been doing tests in UK. He is keen to get going now. He also stated that Lancashire could supply 25% of entire UK gas needs.

To do this he will indeed need to start drilling a lot of wells and fast. Mike Hill estimates considerably more than the 800 planned in their “high end” scenario. More in the region of 1800+ in fact.

This shows a single vertical well on a pad on Fylde coast.

Next we can see a typical production multi-well pad. Cuadrilla will put up to 10 wells per pad at production stage.

The final image shows a potential placement of 120 pads (approx 800-1200 wells) in the PEDL 165.  Note Cuadrilla must give up 50%(by area) of this PEDL in August 2013.
